Running against the wind left cancer anger behind

Chasing a dream in a spontaneous moment became a reality for me.

Without much training, and still recuperating from two surgeries, my friend Chris McDonald, of Moline, thought the Cinco de Miler on Saturday would help inspire me after last week’s frustrations. The decision to run was made the day before for the five-mile race along Lake Michigan in Chicago to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Last week, my friend, Katheryne Padgett, who ran in the Quad Cities Marathon and gave me inspiration, was admitted into hospice after a recurrence of cancer.
